EPISODE 3: THE GIFT OF EVANGELISM IN THE 5-FOLD
INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to the 5-Fold Forum Talk Show with your hosts Carrie Hurley, Carolyn Davis and myself Niccie Kliegl, and today we’re diving into The Gift of Evangelism in the 5-Fold Ministry. Evangelism is an incredible gift that God uses to grow His Kingdom by sharing the Gospel with others. But what does it look like to walk in this gift in today’s world? And how does evangelism fit into the 5-fold ministry structure? Join us as we unpack the answers with biblical truth and practical application.
THE PROBLEM:
Potential Struggles Related to the Topic
Fear of Rejection: Many believers hesitate to share their faith, fearing rejection or criticism.
Uncertainty About Evangelism: Not knowing how to share the Gospel effectively or what evangelism looks like in their daily lives.
Overwhelmed by the Task: Feeling unqualified or overwhelmed by the responsibility to reach the lost.
Lack of Passion: Struggling to feel motivated or passionate about sharing the Gospel.
THE WORD:
Scripture-Based Guidance
Fear of Rejection:
Matthew 10:32-33
"Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven."
Jesus reminds us that our faithfulness in sharing the Gospel pleases God and is far more significant than the fear of rejection.
Isaiah 41:10
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Fear is of the enemy. It is a tool that he uses to keep us ineffective for the Kingdom. It’s time to deny him.
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Believers have been supernaturally empowered by the Holy Spirit. He helps us speak the Word of God boldly (Acts 4.31). He penetrates the mind of the person we are speaking to revealing spiritual truth.
Uncertainty About Evangelism:
1 Peter 3:15
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
This verse teaches us that evangelism starts with preparation, knowing our hope in Christ, and sharing it with love and respect.
James 1:5
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
Ask God for wisdom when approaching someone with the Gospel. As for Him to give you the words and the approach that you should use. What is effective for one person will be a turn off for another.
Matthew 5:16
“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
One way to share: We witness with our walk and our words. The Holy Spirit helps with both.
Overwhelmed by the Task:
Matthew 28:19-20
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Jesus commissions us to evangelize, but He also promises His presence, reminding us that we are never alone in this calling.
Matthew 9:37-38
“He said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.’”
Yes, the task is overwhelming, but God calls us to pray for other workers to be raised up and sent out.
2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
Again, the power comes from God to spread the gospel and not our abilities. “Salvation is the work of God not man.” (BKC)
Lack of Passion:
Romans 10:14-15
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’"
Paul emphasizes the eternal importance of evangelism, igniting our passion by showing how our obedience impacts others' lives eternally.
Romans 1:16
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
What motivates me to share the Gospel is the power it has to change lives - this new life we have in Christ filled with joy-peace-hope
1 Thessalonians 5:19 AMP
“Do not quench [subdue, or be unresponsive to the working and guidance of] the [Holy] Spirit.”
James 4:17
“Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”
Time is wasting. If you’re not doing what you’re called to do you’re sinning. Repent and ask for the Lord to restore the fire within you.
THE GIFT:
The Blessing of Embracing the Gift of Healing
When you walk in the gift of evangelism, you become a vessel for the Holy Spirit to lead others to Christ. This gift allows you to experience the joy of sharing eternal hope and watching lives transformed by the Gospel. You also fulfill God’s purpose for His church, building the Kingdom and bringing glory to His name.
THE CHOICE:
Challenge & Action Steps
"Today’s challenge is this: If you feel called to grow in the gift of healing, start by…
Pray daily for boldness and opportunities to share your faith with others.
Practice sharing your testimony in a concise and heartfelt way.
Start small—share a Bible verse, a word of encouragement, or your testimony with someone you trust.
Join or support outreach efforts in your church to see how evangelism works collectively.
Remember, evangelism isn’t always about results—it’s about faithfulness. Trust God to use your obedience in His timing.
