"... so fear is not necessarily a bad thing.. there's things that fear is going to signal to you about where you need to grow and where maybe you need to overcome that fear. ... I do work predominantly in the thriller & horror genre and an idea that has stuck with me that I've been developing for a little while now is partnering scary stories with personal growthwhich sounds really unusual, most people when they hear it think automatically like 'those things do not go together', but if you think of a lot of stories throughout history and even Bible stories. There's an element of fear, a lot of times there's an element of some scary things that can exist that you have to face or you have to overcome or you have to resist. So these stories, these scary stories really do have a whole lot of power to tap into these more primal levels of our thinking and really help us achieve change..."

'... it really is an empowerment story and again with all horror stories, scary stories there's usually this layer of metaphor about what's really going on.'

'... but in real life, it also just parallels the need to do that to have your personal power. It might not be a literal death but I think we all know that it can feel like a metaphorical death or a little death in other ways to let people walk over us or push us around or treat us badly.'

'...if you think about certain scary stories again that have endured over time oftentimes there's a monster but the monster actually represents something else... so you can come up with some really original story ideas dialing into those fears and again it's therapeutic working through it.'

'... it's okay if you don't know how to do it but if you have the faith just to take one step forward at a time, trusting you're going in the right direction. Things do come together and it's amazing! I've had a couple things happen this past year that really felt like miracles and how they came together when I took the very first step...'

Here are 3 valuable tips from Sara:

  1. Fear is not necessarily a bad thing

  2. Get stronger and stronger to reclaim what you want your life to be

  3. Obliterate limiting beliefs using the horror movie formula

"Horror stories are modern fables. They're fables for adults and hold the key to everything they need to know." - SMJ
